The UN Association of Jyväskylä (JyYK) is a civic organization founded in 2006.
JyYK’s purpose is to promote the principles and goals of the United Nations, such as the sustainable development goals (Agenda2030), as well as ensure their realization and publicity in Jyväskylä area.
They also aim to increase the participation and involvement opportunities of local people in international development issues. The main function of the association is informing, mainly through organizing various events in relation to the UN theme year and theme days. JyYK is a member of the UN Association of Finland and the UN Youth of Finland.
As our partners, JyYK supports us in the development of our main annual events such as the Charity Run and Christmas Fair, by contributing in the planning meetings, directing part of their budget to support our activities and by volunteering in our events. For example, in May 2021 we organized the annual Charity Run in cooperation with JyYK (UN Association of Jyvaskyla) and IDESCO (International Degree Student Community), and this December we were present at the Christmas Fair (Hippoksen Joulumarkkinat), raising funds by selling goods along with JyYK.
